So you found the woman of your dreams in Colombia, married her, and now you’re looking forward to giving her the best life she deserves.

Some foreign men think they’ll find the best life outside Colombia. They prefer flying to their country to staying in Colombia. They can’t be blamed, though, because the country’s dark past made it seem unsuitable for comfortable living.

But if you look closely now, you’ll see how the country can be perfect for starting a family, raising kids, and retirement.

The country has long transformed from its dark reputation. It’s now become a vibrant country, full of welcoming people. It’s kept up with the changing world, especially with healthcare and education.

So before deciding, you might want to check out these reasons why it’s possible to settle down and lead a comfortable life in Colombia.

Comfortable Climate

Colombia sits right at the equator, so expect no significant seasonal change. You will enjoy the tropical climate the whole year. Unlike other American countries, the country consistently has 12 hours of daylight and night.

This climate will allow you to explore Colombia the best. The country boasts of huge and bustling biodiversity. You will never run out of mountains to climb, seas to explore, and adventures to try on. If you plan a family there, it will be great family bonding.

Friendly Local

If you marry a Colombian, expect a warm welcome from the Colombian community. This isn’t an exaggeration as Colombians are well-known hospitable people.

They’ll immerse you into their vibrant community through dance, music, and festivals. They love gatherings and huge celebrations. In fact, they celebrate Christmas way longer than most Americans do. It’s something you can look forward to every year.

Quality Education and Healthcare

One would think Colombia has a bad education and healthcare system, given its dark past that they can’t seem to get away from. However, Colombia may actually have the best of these two.

If you’re to raise your kids in Colombia, their education is in good hands. The country has world-renowned private and international schools that offer high standards of education. You can find most of these schools in Bogota.

You also need not fly back to your country to receive the best health care. Colombia has 22 of the best hospitals in Latin America. In fact, Colombian hospitals can take better care of you compared to Canada or other American countries.

Quality Lifestyle at an Affordable Cost

Living costs are significantly lower in Colombia compared to other South American countries or cities. Taxes are lower, so you can buy cheap but fresh local goods. You don’t have to spend much on transportation, either.

Not many Colombians own cars as their transportation system is reliable and convenient enough. There’s a well-planned network of intercity buses and a rapid-transit system. Fare tickets are also cheap.

For the most part, you don’t need more than your healthy pair of legs to roam around the city. Mostly everything is within walking distance. You’ll find walking most convenient when living in major cities like Medellin, Barranquilla, and Bogota.

Rent and accommodation are also affordable. If you prefer living inside cities, you can easily find cheap but quality apartment complexes. This already comes with good security and amenities.

If you prefer living outside the big cities, then purchasing a home would be the best option. These houses are half as expensive as most homes in America.

Best Life in Colombia

Aside from affordable, almost stress-free living, Colombia will also let you experience a slower pace of life. You can savor every moment with your wife and watch your kids grow. And when it’s time to let them lead an independent life, Colombia will be your dream retirement paradise with your wife.

If this isn’t your definition of the best life, then nothing else is.
